Eduardo Mateo (1940-1990) was a Uruguayan singer, songwriter, guitarist and arranger who played a key role in the development of the modern Uruguayan music mixing beat, jazz, bossa nova and local rhythms like candombe, in a way similar to Brazilian Tropicalismo. Fernando Cabrera is a highly regarded guitarist, singer and composer.
