Fluid
Punch N Judy
The Fluid, a Denver five-piece, blended '80s hardcore, Detroit protopunk, '60s garage rock, and '70s swagger, drawing comparisons to MC5 and the Stones. Rising from early-'80s Denver punk bands, they became the first non-Seattle band signed to Sub Pop, releasing Clear Black Paper as the label's second album. Their fiery live shows and energetic sound fit perfectly alongside grunge icons like Nirvana and Soundgarden. From 1986 to 1993, The Fluid released four albums and several EPs, including a split with Nirvana, before disbanding. Despite their cult status and crate-digger appeal, they remained overshadowed by the Seattle scene. Their catalog, featuring raw punk anthems, bluesy romps, and feral rock, is now remastered and remixed by Sub Pop and Jack Endino, giving this overlooked band a second chance to shine.
