Dzyan
Dzyan
Originally released on small label "Aronda" in 1972 Dzyans eponymous 1st Album was their most rock oriented one. Similar to their SWF-recordings 6 month later Dzyan played a slightly jazzy form of progressive rock with hints of Wolfgang Dauner, flashes of Zappas Hot Rats and even some Van Der Graaf Generator styled saxophone-fronted diversions. As the Freeman Brothers write in their classic book "The Crack In The Cosmic Egg" an "intriguing album that is still fresh today". Strong expressive vocals (Jochen Leuschner), refined guitar playing (Harry Krmer) and remarkable sax tunes (Gerd Ehrmann) supported by an excellent rhythm section with extraordinaire bass player and bandleader Reinhard Karwatky and solid drummer Ludwig Braum are the characteristics of this great album, which is incomprehensible underrated in comparison with their latter albums "Time Machine" and "Electric Silence"..
