Black Furs
(black) Songs About Lust & Self Destruction
The third album by Argentina's finest, The Black Furs. 8 tracks of doomed blues that will leave your speakers filthy.

Mosley, Bob
Bob Mosley
Bob Mosley, reworked, remastered and re-released - at last! The list of artists who cite 1960s rock legends Moby Grape as an influence is unsurprisingly diverse. After all, the Northern California combo consisted of five gifted songwriters whose unique creative sparks came together as a cohesive whole. Although shady business dealings ultimately undid Moby Grape by 1971, each of the band's members might have gone on to long careers, if not outright stardom. That's certainly what should've happened for bassist and singer Bob Mosley, who released his eponymously titled Warner Bros. solo debut in '72. The eleven tracks recorded for the album sure packed a wallop. Mosley had given the Grape its rugged, bluesy aspect, and his own LP went that way, full-throttle. Unfussy songcraft with forthright lyrics suited Mosley's deep, powerful voice_through straight-up rockers like 'The Joker,' the propulsive pop of 'Let The Music Play' and 'Squaw Valley Nils,' and the groovy-greasy, hornswaggled soul of 'Gypsy Wedding.' The sessions captured the bouncy R&B of 'Nothing To Do' and the plaintive yearning of country-tinged 'Thanks.' With 'Hand In Hand,' Mosley brought a tough edge to an unabashed love song, while 'So Many Troubles,' the moving closer, was swathed in haunting keyboards and woe-begotten guitar. Muscular musicianship came from a core group around Mosley on bass: drummer Alllen Wehr and guitarists Woodie Berry and Frank Smith. The sessions also boasted the Memphis Horns and pedal steel by Ed Black. So how could such strong tunes and stellar playing result in a record that didn't soar to the top of the charts, satisfying Moby Grape fans and new listeners alike? To answer that question, let's go back to the list of artists mad for Moby Grape. Along with Robert Plant, Little Steven, Beck, Chrissie Hynde, Cat Power and Jeff Tweedy is singer/songwriter/producer John DeNicola. "As a big Moby Grape fan, I anticipated any solo records from the band members, and I got this LP as soon as it came out," DeNicola recalls. "I listened to it recently and thought the low end of the bass and drums were thin, making the overall sound of the songs less than ideal. I thought, "If I could only get my hands on the original multitrack, I would love the opportunity to remix it... better balance the rhythm section with the rest of the music to make it sound as it should. It's there, it just needs a boost." If anyone knows how things should sound, it's John DeNicola. In the 1980s, he wrote the music for both monster hits from the 'Dirty Dancing' soundtrack, '(I Had The) Time Of My Life' and 'Hungry Eyes,' earning an Academy Award and a Grammy nomination. In the '90s, his ears for talent led him to discover a baby band called Kara's Flowers, who later changed their name to Maroon 5. Via his boutique label, Omad, he not only releases his own solo work, he produces a spectrum of artists in different genres - the only connective tissue being that DeNicola digs them. What's more, though an accomplished multi-instrumentalist himself, DeNicola had been a bass player in his early bands, so he had a particular interest in doing right by Mosley. "Bob was one of the most influential rock bassists of all time, and for a bass player's record to be light on bass is not optimal," he deadpans. Clearly, DeNicola was the ideal person to help Bob Mosley fulfill its sonic promise. Trouble was, the original multitrack - which would have let him literally start from scratch with a full-on remix - was missing. DeNicola didn't let that stop him, however, obtaining instead the master two track DDP file from Warner Bros. "With that, I was able to 'de-mix' the record, separate out the drums, bass and vocals using a combination of AI programs, and then get the bass and drums up in volume. Not a complete remix, no, but I was able to balance the rhythm section with the music, resulting in a fuller sound." Now, Omad is releasing Bob Mosley on CD (consult any hipster - the format is coming back!) and potentially on vinyl as well. "I'm really happy with it," DeNicola says. "I think it sounds the way it was originally intended to, and it feels great to give people an opportunity to hear Bob's masterpiece the way it never really was before." Perhaps the best news? All profits from the record will go to Mosley, a former Marine who has had his share of struggles off and on during his 81 years on the planet. "Bob's actually doing well these days, living in California with his lovely wife Connie," DeNicola says. With his first solo album getting a whole new life, Bob Mosley can finally encourage listeners to do what he asks on 'The Joker,' the opening track: "Understand and believe my worth, hear what I have to say."

Vlaamse Primitieven
Lucht Van Een Andere Planeet
De Vlaamse Primitieven is the project of three friends - musicians Jan Boudart and Freek Vreys with Venediktos Tempelboom at the helm of production - still living in the cosmic acid-seeker mindset. Together they have created an album which encapsulates the ideology of their vision: Combining a myriad of 'off-centre' musical genres (American Primitivism, psychedelia/krautrock, '60s style UK folk, drone...) through the lens of guitar traditions. The DIY aesthetic that informs their style is a conscious decision to shine light on the 'visibility' of the creation process. The album was recorded live in one take, deep in the night at Venediktos Tempelboom's Ambacht Tapes studio. The usage of beaten-down equipment (throwaways from other hi-fi studio's) and recording on second-hand tape show their anti-approach to the modern day 'music bizz': to live with what others do not honour. The resulting album is one big psychedelic extravaganza that will pop-out your third eye and will send rippling waves of psychedelic technicolor sound to flood the banks of your mind. Catch you in the cosmic-giggle ~~ 'Excuse me Drugs, let me OFF(ic)ER YOU this record. OH YEAH ALL ANALOG BABY!!!! Limited to 300 copies.

Weird Herald
Just Yesterday
In 1968, Weird Herald released a now sought-after promo only 45 with the songs 'Saratoga James'/'Just Yesterday.' That 45 was part of a full album that was never released. Music ranges from haunting, beautiful folk-rock with spacey acoustic guitar playing and delicate vocal harmonies ('Untitled,' 'David Of Bijou' - probably the first ever song dedicated to Skip Spence - cool laid-back country-folk ('Reapin' Seasons,' sounding not unlike current bands like the Milk Carton Kids) to energetic hard-rockers à la early Moby Grape or Jefferson Airplane with stunning electric leads. Not forgetting 'Where I'm Bound' which has a cool 'Notorious Byrd Brothers' feel or 'Burgundy And Yellow,' kinda Weird Herald's 'Bass Strings' (Country Joe & The Fish). Hailing from Los Gatos in California, Weird Herald featured two accomplished guitar players who are local legends in the San Jose/Santa Cruz area, Billy Dean Andrus and Paul Ziegler. Their roots can be traced to the early San Jose folk/coffeehouse scene. Jorma Kaukonen (Jefferson Airplane/Hot Tuna) was a close friend and used to jam with them. Billy Dean Andrus was Skip Spence's best friend since high school and they both used to perform as a folk duo in the early days. A fantastic rhythm section, Cecil Bollinger on bass and Pat McIntire on drums rounded the band. Sadly, in 1970 Billy Dean Andrus died of a drug overdose in the Santa Cruz Mountains. He was immortalized on the songs 'Ode For Billy Dean' written by Jorma Kaukonen for Hot Tuna and 'Chicago' by the Doobie Brothers. Paul Ziegler ended up joining up Hot Tuna in the early '70s. He passed away in 2000. Problems with the management/producers led to the planned album being shelved and, according to legend, the master tapes destroyed. Luckily, reel-to-reel copies have remained with the Andrus family for half over a century, unheard until now. Includes 8-page insert with detailed liner notes by Cam Cobb (authors of 'Weighted Down: The Complicated Life Of Skip Spence') with input from the Andrus family and the surviving Weird Herald members and rare photos and a download card with 11 previously unreleased bonus tracks, including basement demos from 1967 by the first line-up of the band.

Rain (usa)
Tomorrow Never Comes
Top-shelf previously unreleased psychedelic pop from 1967-68 by this post-Lomax Alliance Anglo-American trio. A mix of West Coast/Swingin' London sounds with killer vocal harmonies, fuzz guitar, tape/studio effects... Think psych-era Beatles, Byrds, Nazz, Buffalo Springfield, Colours, The Moon... WOW!! The convulsed story of Rain involves Brian Epstein, The Beatles, Merseybeat, Liverpool, New York, Linda Eastman (who photographed the band) and more... Basically, when the Brian Epstein-managed band Lomax Alliance parted ways with their frontman Jackie Lomax (who was about to embark on a George Harrison-assisted solo career), his colleagues in Lomax Alliance - guitarist John Cannon, bassist Tom Caccetta and drummer Bugs Pemberton - left London behind to relocate to New York, where they changed their name to Rain (after his favourite Beatles track) and recorded a full album with producer Chris Huston (The Undertakers, Young Rascals). Despite the outstanding production, top notch songwriting and superb musicianship, the album never left the acetate stage. The trio played at the Fillmore and did more studio work under the Gypsy Wizards Band name that remained also unreleased, before disbanding in 1969. 'Tomorrow Never Comes' includes all the tracks from the Rain acetate, recorded 1967-68, plus two songs from the Gypsy Wizards Band one (1968-69). Vintage styled artwork in hard cardboard sleeve. Remastered sound. Insert with liner notes by David Wells and rare photos/memorabilia.

Stud (usa)
Stud
ivate hard-rock ultra-rarity from Texas, only 200 copies pressed back in 1975. A mystery for many years (all the band members used pseudonyms on the album credits), many people failed to track the band down. Until Out-Sider Music solved the mystery in 2015 when we located them and reissued the album. Long out of print they present a new edition. Formed in 1974 in Houston, Stud featured the killer lead guitar of 17-year-old genius Tim Williams, the brutal Rickenbacker bass attacks of Paul Eakin and the solid as a rock drumming of George Lasher. The chemistry was born since they first starting played together and after many rehearsals, they decided they were ready to record their first album. So they entered the Barons Studios in Rosenberg and 'Stud' was the result. Powerful hard-rock on songs like 'A Woman Like You' or 'Jim/Blues,' killer boogie-rock ('Captain Boogie'), hard-psychedelic jams (the 12+ minutes of 'Stud') and progressive hard-rock on the impressive 'The War Song.' File next to Morly Grey and Incredible Hog.

Black Honey Cult
Black Honey Cult (black)
Debut album for the garage rock band featuring Jake Cavaliere from The Lords Of Altamont. Drawing inspiration from pioneers like The Velvet Underground and psychedelic icons The 13th Floor Elevators, Black Honey Cult infuses their sound with shades of early goth, post-punk, and krautrock. The result? A hypnotic, genre-defying blend of dark, atmospheric psychedelia that transports listeners to another plane - like dropping LSD on Mars. The band's sound was brought to life by the legendary Paul Roessler (of Screamers and 45 Grave fame) at Kitten Robot Studios, a perfect match for their haunting and transportive vision. Black Honey Cult stands as a testament to years of collaboration, creativity, and perseverance, offering an immersive experience for those ready to step into their enigmatic world. Prepare to follow the cult and lose yourself in the spellbinding sounds of Black Honey Cult.

A defining record of mid-2000s Scandinavian rock, this album captures the Backyard Babies' raw energy and relentless drive, cementing their legacy as pioneers of modern rock. Damned
I'm Alright Jack And The Bean Stalk
The first British punk band to appear on vinyl, The Damned enjoyed unprecedented early chart success and influenced the hardcore punk and goth movements. 1996's 'I'm Alright Jack And The Bean Stalk' (aka 'Not Of This Earth') was a real departure for the re-vamped band that defied easy classification; moving away from the punk and goth of the past, it found Dave Vanian, Rat Scabies and guitarist Alan Lee Shaw channelling psychedelia, new wave and traditional rock, bolstered by pedigree supporters including organist James Taylor and bassist Glen Matlock of the original Pistols. A killer set of non-standard Damned jams - get it now! RSD 2025 release on blue vinyl.

The bona-fide mod revival classic LP 'Glory Boys' gets an official reissue on Heavy Soul Records. Coming with the original artwork with nice new touches added by ex-Jetsetter Paul Bevoir with the added attraction of a stunning gatefold sleeve featuring memorabilia from the day. Only 500 copies pressed (100 on blue vinyl (sold out), 400 on black) and individually numbered. You also get a fab A3 poster of the band. Few copies available only!

Lovejoy
Let There Be Love
Lovejoy have a reputation for creating sophisticated indie music. In the late nineties and early noughties, they released a string of well received and now sought-after 7"singles, EPs and albums, also playing shows in the UK, across Europe and Scandinavia, until taking an extended break in 2008. In 2024, from seemingly out of nowhere, they made a surprise, warmly received return with their acclaimed album '...And It's Love!,' released jointly by Spinout Nuggets and Shelflife Records. '...And It's Love!' received glowing reviews and 2024 saw Lovejoy's Dick Preece's live return too, performing songs acoustically in support of the album. Music legend Alan McGee has been a firm supporter of Lovejoy, also providing sleeve notes for '...And It's Love!' (Ed Ball too). After the album's release, he and Dick Preece collaborated on the recording of lost Biff Bang Pow! song, 'Let There Be Love.' The story goes that, while reviewing material for Cherry Red's 2022 BBP! retrospective, 'A Better Life,' McGee came across a live recording of the long-forgotten song: "It's one of the 3 or 4 best songs I ever wrote for Biff Bang Pow! We played it a few times live and I can't believe we never recorded it at the time. But things were chaotic and so were we. In all the madness, we just forgot...", said McGee. The live recording was too rough to be released, but McGee suggested to Preece that Lovejoy should record it. "Talk about pressure to get it right" says Preece, "...what a responsibility. But we played the song through together, talked about what it needed, swapped ideas and gradually both versions came together. When Spinout Nuggets and Creation Youth (McGee's new record label) agreed to co-release the songs as a 7" single, I was just so thrilled". 'Let There Be Love' is an epic, defiant song of love and longing, beautifully meshing McGee's melodic dexterity with Lovejoy's measured elegance. A tender acoustic take shimmers with beauty and Felt like ethereal guitar, while the electric version recalls the darker, intense Biff Bang Pow! sound circa 'Love is Forever.' It's a must for fans of Lovejoy, Biff Bang Pow! and all related records. Released as a double 'a' side single by Spinout Nuggets and Creation Youth, the vinyl is limited to 500 copies worldwide.

Jetstream Pony
Bowerbirds And Blue Things
Jetstream Pony combine post-punk, indie-pop and power-pop, featuring Beth Arzy (The Luxembourg Signal/Trembling Blue Stars/Aberdeen) on vocals and percussion, Shaun Charman (The Wedding Present/The Popguns/The Fireworks) on guitar and vocals, Kerry Boettcher (Turbocat) on bass, Tom Levesley on drums, and recently joined by Mark Matthews (The Dentists/The Treasures Of Mexico) on guitar. This 2025 full length album, 'Bowerbirds and Blue Things', is a co-release between Spinout Nuggets in the UK, and Shelflife Records in North America. The band's evolution continues, and there are branches into new territory. 'The Relativity of Wrong' is driven by heavy bass, a tale of youthful misbehaviour, with guest vocals from Eleni Poulou, formerly of The Fall. 'Tendrils' has a darker presence, sung by Kerry, echoing and ghostly. 'Bonanza 2 Tango Sierra' and 'Look Alive!' both have a driving feel, and the power-pop is still intact with songs like 'Bubblegum Nothingness.' 'Bowerbirds And Blue Things' is a varied album that keeps the underlying Jetstream Pony sound, but with real development.
PUNK/HARDCORE

Ack Ack
Trouser Tricks
'Trouser Tricks' was the unreleased debut album by West London punk band Ack Ack, formed in the Twickenham/Isleworth area in 1977. The album was recorded in 1980 at TW Music Studio, a small studio tucked away on Fulham Palace Road, capturing the raw, unfiltered energy that defined the band's sound. Despite initial interest from several record labels, including some major ones, the album was never officially released due to the economic recession and the growing belief that punk had run its course. These tracks provide a rare glimpse into a pivotal time in the local punk scene. Experience the lost sounds of 'Trouser Tricks' today! RSD 2025 release on red vinyl.

Erazerhead
The Rumble Of The East
Erazerhead was a four-member band hailing from East London, active between 1980 and 1984. The lineup featured Lee on vocals, Jim on guitar, Gary on bass, and Billy on drums. During their brief career, they managed to release two albums along with several singles. Their sound was heavily influenced by the Ramones, capturing a similar energetic and raw vibe. Despite some thin production, their debut album's charm lies in its simplicity and authenticity, making it an enjoyable listen that evokes a sense of nostalgia. Rather than aiming to overwhelm, the band delivered a light, engaging sound that resonated with their audience, adding a playful twist to their music that kept listeners coming back for more. RSD 2025 release on blue vinyl.

Kids
The Kids (splatter)
Hailing from Antwerp, Belgium, The Kids formed in 1976 to prove to the world that punk was more than just a London vs New York fashion contest. Originally released on the Philips label in 1978, and highly acclaimed as one of the best punk records EVER, The Kids' debut album is now reissued on vinyl, with two bonus tracks recorded in 1977. This is pure and quintessential punk rock. RSD 2025 release on splatter vinyl.

Kids
Naughty Kids (splatter)
Released a mere eight months after their groundbreaking 1978 self-titled debut LP, The Kids' second album is a pure masterpiece of straightforward punk rock. A little less raw than their previous material, but still far from the new wave sounds the band started experimenting with on their following records, 'Naughty Kids' remains one of the best examples of non-UK '70s punk and definitely a mandatory addition to the collection of any 'Killed By Death' fanatic! This reissue also features 5 bonus tracks recorded live in 1978. RSD 2025 release on splatter vinyl.

Castle Farm
The Studio Sessions 1971-72
Castle Farm was a British band from the early '70s with a powerful, guitar based hard-rock-blues sound with elements of glam and proto-metal. Here's their rare and sought after privately pressed 45 from 1972,'Hot-Rod Queen' b/w 'Mascot' (originally released on their own label, Farm Records) plus 1971-72 unissued studio recordings. Originally a four-piece band, they later brought in John Aldrich, with his super-clean lead guitar style, to supplement Gram 'Tex' Benike's killer slide work and create a dynamic dual-guitar sound, adding so much more colour and depth to the band's music. With a solid rhythm section of 'Spyder' Curphey (and latterly his brother Roger) on bass and Steve Traveller on drums, and with Denny Newman's powerful and resonant vocals, the band progressed to the university and college circuit all over England, supporting major acts like Rory Gallagher, Deep Purple, Atomic Rooster, Savoy Brown, Climax Blues Band, Quintessence and many others. Mateo, Eduardo -& Fernando Cabrera-
Mateao Y Cabrera: Grabado En Vivo
Reissued on vinyl is a wonderful 1987 live album featuring two giants of Uruguayan music. Eduardo Mateo (1940-1990) was a Uruguayan singer, songwriter, guitarist and arranger who played a key role in the development of the modern Uruguayan music mixing beat, jazz, bossa nova and local rhythms like candombe, in a way similar to Brazilian Tropicalismo. Fernando Cabrera is a highly regarded guitarist, singer and composer.

Roos, Jaime
Mediocampo
originally released in 1984 and now back on vinyl, 'Mediocampo' is the fifth album by influential Uruguayan musician Jaime Roos. It's the conclusiopn of an unintentional trilogy that began with 'Aquello' in 1981 and continued with 1982's 'Siempre Son Las Cuatro'. This groundbreaking album is a genuine classic, perhaps the most prestigious and best-known work of his discography. 'Mediocampo' is as daring and experimental as Jaime's previous two works, but with much more direct and accessible communication, achieving an almost perfect distillation of his artistic vision. Today, many of its songs are an essential part of Montevideo's cultural soundtrack.
