Jeffrey Alexander + The Heavy Lidders takes the freaked improvisation of Alexander's instrumental band - DWLVS/Dire Wolves Just Exactly Perfect Sisters Band - into the world of song. Heady songwriting, ethereal jazz and Trad Gras-y blues stomps all feature. Backed by members of Elkhorn and Kohoutek. When Record Crates United invited JA+THL to perform at their inaugural garden party, not only did the Lidders show up with a one-off 'Live/Dead' cover as a surprise gift for Keith and Sarah, but they rolled in with the Jesse Sheppard mobile multi-track truck, as well. Fucking pros, mate. Most of the material here was captured that sunny afternoon in suburban New Jersey - and thank the Godz that we have this plastic burner. Released in a plain white sleeve with the labeling "Advance Reviewer Copy Confidential," this is one of several albums released by a company in Milwaukee that solicited local promotional copies from bands to be reviewed by the general population for a $10.00 fee!!

First ever reissue of this elusive private pressing from 1970 by British singer/songwriter Keith Noble (a founding member of pre-Pink Floyd bands Sigma 6/The Abdabs and co-composer of Chad & Jeremy's hit 'A Summer Song'). 'Mr. Compromise,' originally released as a tiny demo pressing on the custom Eden label (home also of other psych-folk rarities like Mourning Phase), showcases the versatile songwriting talent of Noble: jazzy-bossa pop, Kinks/Hollies/Byrds styled full electric numbers and haunting psychedelic folk not unlike Al Stewart or Incredible String Band. Featuring Keith's friend from the pre-Floyd days Rado Klose (one of the earliest members of Pink Floyd) on lead guitar. After the album release, Keith Noble dedicated his life to architecture and teaching and he also wrote several musicals. Sadly, he passed away in 2014. This long awaited reissue of 'Mr. Compromise,' has been possible with help from the Noble family. Remastered sound. Original artwork in hard cardboard sleeve. Second and last album by Hard Stuff, originally released in 1973 on Purple Records. This time, the three-piece hard-rock group led by John Cann (Andromeda, Atomic Rooster...) and featuring John Gustafson on bass and Paul Hammond on drums, incorporate some cool funk-rock and experimental touches to their powerful sound. After touring with Deep Purple, Uriah Heep and Captain Beefheart, Hard Stuff started recording their second album at A.I.R. studios with a few songs actually registered at De Lane Lea. Sadly, just before the LP was released, tragedy struck and Cann and Hammond were badly injured in a car crash in Belgium. Hammond took the worst part, having to stay for two months at the hospital. That was the end for Hard Stuff. "Hard Stuff's second album, the underrated 1973 platter 'Bolex Dementia' is perhaps a more accomplished and varied studio effort." ~Plastic Crimewave. 20 years ago Tokyo-based, internationally renowned and legendary artist Rockin' Jelly Bean created a shop in Japan to showcase his art by the name of Erostika. Whoever celebrates rock'n'roll music, B-movies and art from and inspired by the '50s till late '70s has inevitably come across this fantastic illustrator and artist who among others has worked with/for famous motion pictures such as Quentin Tarantino's 'Kill Bill' or 'True Romance.' Inspired by artists like Ed Roth or Robert Williams, his art and the caricaturesque figures in it tell their stories while critically dealing with and reflecting exaggerated sexualization of our cartoonlike times, always spiced up with a pinch of comedy and self-irony. To celebrate the shop's 20th anniversary on September 28th 2024, Erostika releases an orginial motion picture soundtrack LP: 'Horror, Sex And Violence.' It features seven fantastic Japanese bands and each of their songs was made for Rockin' Jelly Bean's "original movie" posters and thereby continues to tell their stories musically. Naturally the LP is extremely versatile, starting off with the wild, rockin' and rollin' Stompin' Riffraffs representing 'Mondo Erostika.' Next up are surfin' legends Jackie & The Cedrics for 'The Switchblade Surfers' followed by creepy psychobilly rockers Bobby's Bar and The Psyclocks for 'Monster Wrecking Mash.' The B-side starts soulful and funky with The Soulclap representing blaxploitation movie 'Super Foxy,' while '60s garage band The Highmarts play the soundtrack of the story of 'Sukeban Baby' and finally metalcore-band Saigan Terror decide to "destroy them all" and 'Thrash The Zombies.' Commuter started as a musical project of Dionysis Koutavas (vocals/guitar) in Athens (Greece) in 2019. Influenced by the post-punk sounds of the Canadian scene as well as the new wave of UK among others, the band has played live shows alongside popular Greek bands (The Steams, Deaf Radio) and international as well (Dry Cleaning, Protomartyr, SONS, Unschooling). Commuter released their first self-titled EP in January 2023 on all streaming platforms and cassette via Bitter Tea Records. This is their debut album.

Joe D. Nelson (aka Jody Nelson) trades in a perverse Americana articulated via a novelist's eye for detail, a poet's love of the liminal, playful surrealism, and sci-fi morality. His characters are of this place yet are utterly mystified by their trappings. Some of them are amphibious. Others are lost to circumstance. There are cowboys confused by horses. A man in a "tap water suit." Nelson cut his songwriting teeth via his former outfit, Through The Sparks, a Birmingham, Alabama garage band. With his solo debut, 'Iced Cherries,' Nelson inverts his past techniques by abandoning electric guitars and ProTools in favor of deft fingerpicking on an acoustic guitar and recording live to analog tape. As for influences, one might hear shades of Bruce Cockburn, whom he recently covered on the latest volume of 'Imaginational Anthem' on Tompkins Square. More often than not, 'Iced Cherries' sounds like an unholy alliance of Fred Neil, Joe Pass, Thomas Pynchon, and David Berman. At its core, 'Iced Cherries' is a deconstruction of singer-songwriter tropes. He wrote a song in every key - and each of those songs slyly slaughters a sacred cow musically or lyrically. Sometimes both. Even the album cover is a wink. But these are folk songs in that all folk songs are of their time - and these are very weird times.

'Popcorn' was a music scene in Belgium where DJ's mixed up mid-tempo r'n'b and Latin with soulful ballads to keep the crowd dancing 'till teatime with the odd showtune or standard thrown in for good measure. It caught the ear of club fanatic Eddy De Clercq, who took the camp side of popcorn to the underground gay bars in Ghent and Brussels before starting the first house night in Amsterdam at the Roxy club. The hunt for rare records was how popcorn disc jockeys separated themselves from the pack; hardcore diggers looked further than the US and found the same sound close to home: local artists from Flanders often had one song in their catalogue that fitted this mould. Up north, just outside the territorial waters of Holland, pirateship radio stations were on the same page broadcasting local versions of American tunes. The Stoffige Vingers label presents ten Dutch language tracks never compiled on vinyl before on this charming 10": True value for money as the combined value of the originals go close to four figures. Oldies with a twist!

In an opulent age where everything is consumed quickly, Arottenbit blends genres using an obsolete tool, an old Nintendo Game Boy rescued from the trash. A children's toy, now used to awaken the nightmares of adults. If punk taught us that you don't need to know how to play an instrument to make music, today we learn that you don't even need to own a musical instrument to make music! From 70 to 240 bpm on a heavy and furious journey, encompassing all the influences that a metropolis can offer during its darkest nights. Arottenbit is an electronic music project born in 2008 by Alessandro 'Otto' Galli (FOH sound engineer for Messa, Deafheaven, Pallbearer, Truckfighters, Bongzilla, Fuoco Fatuo). Playing solo with a 1989 Nintendo Game Boy or accompanied by hardcore punk drummer Guido Montanarini (Paradise Lost, Implore, The Secret), he soon found himself opening for some of his favorite bands like Melvins, Atari Teenage Riot, The Body, Melt-Banana, Author & Punisher, Full Of Hell and performing at major international festivals like Roadburn 2022 and Hellfest 2022. He organized the largest DIY 8-bit festival in world history: Milano Chiptune Underground at the famous squat Macao in Milan (with over 2000 attendees!), and embarked on three European and UK tours as the opening act for the Italian band Master Boot Record (Blood Music, Metal Blade Records). All of this without ever releasing an album, relying on the unique impact of his live performances and the word of mouth from friends and music industry professionals.

'Vase De Noces' wasn't released in Belgium. The only distribution Thierry's films might have accessed here was the "Swedish distribution," a code for distribution around adult movie theaters. Films by major directors such as Bergman or Polanski were released this way.
