Waste
The Next Century Is Almost Over - E.p.
South Dutch early '80s punk/hc heroes Waste released their classic 'History Repeats' EP in December 1982. Exactly 40 years later the original members returned to the studio to deliver the truly devastating 'The Next Century Is Almost Over' EP. This 7-inch record contains four jaw dropping tracks featuring the incredibly tight rhythm section of bassist Still Klaus and drummer Fred Flintstone, the brutal punk voice of Bompa RR and the totally damaging fuzz guitar and songwriting skills of Hans F. Ford, who of course is also known from his outstanding current fuzz-punk duo Ford's Fuzz Inferno. (In fact, the EP includes a scorching cover of the FFI-song 'Ups And Downs'.) There's no doubt that this latest addition to the Waste discography offers contemporary old school punk rock/early hardcore at its blistering best. So all you young punks out there, pay attention: this is how it's done! (Limited edition of 375 copies.) PRESS QUOTES: "It is a type of sound the modern hardcore scene unquestionably needs, considering how many bands lost touch with what hardcore punk is supposed to sound alike. Waste are totally up to delivering ferocious, uncompromising, in-your-face, pissed-off hardcore punk." (THOUGHTS WORDS ACTION / 16 Feb. 2023) "Waste is still punk but they're sophisticated now." (RAZORCAKE / 21 July 2023) "The new songs recall the best moments of early-'80s punk rock..." (FEAR AND LOATHING / reviews Jan.-July 2023) "This E.P. offers great '80s style hardcore, full of energie and very enjoyable." (Translated from Germany's TRUST FANZINE #219, April.-May 2023)
