De Vlaamse Primitieven is the project of three friends - musicians Jan Boudart and Freek Vreys with Venediktos Tempelboom at the helm of production - still living in the cosmic acid-seeker mindset. Together they have created an album which encapsulates the ideology of their vision: Combining a myriad of 'off-centre' musical genres (American Primitivism, psychedelia/krautrock, '60s style UK folk, drone...) through the lens of guitar traditions. The DIY aesthetic that informs their style is a conscious decision to shine light on the 'visibility' of the creation process. The album was recorded live in one take, deep in the night at Venediktos Tempelboom's Ambacht Tapes studio. The usage of beaten-down equipment (throwaways from other hi-fi studio's) and recording on second-hand tape show their anti-approach to the modern day 'music bizz': to live with what others do not honour. The resulting album is one big psychedelic extravaganza that will pop-out your third eye and will send rippling waves of psychedelic technicolor sound to flood the banks of your mind.
