Tempest
Tempest
This is the first official re-release on vinyl under licensed courtesy of BMG Rights Management, UK, remastered from an original master copy out of the vaults of BMG. Originally released in 1973 on Bronze, Island this is the first album by the UK heavy progrock group Tempest, formed by famous drummer Jon Hiseman following the breakdown of the original Colosseum lineup. It includes Colosseum bassist Mark Clarke, guitar and violin are handled by the brilliant Allan Holdsworth and vocals by one of the strongest UK vocalists Paul Williams (ex-Juicy Lucy). The music is a mixture of really virtuoso and energetic hard rock/heavy rock performances with slightly jazzrock (Colosseum) influences. Absolutely at the peak of hard-rock, with blinding musical prowess of a certain kind, this is a grower... the riffs, composition, rhythms, and melodies are pretty fantastic, better than 90 percent of the highly regarded output by Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, or Black Sabbath, as one critic wrote. Listen to this great album, sadly often quite forgotten. The original recordings were carefully and proper remastered. The album comes as a reproduction of the original gimmick cover with bandstory, photos and lyrics summed up in a 4-sided cover sized insert sheet. A must to all hard/heavy progrock fans!
