Splashing Rainbows
Numbers
Splashing Rainbows is a personal indie-pop project by ex-One Night Suzan singer and guitarist Giorgos Kyriazis. After the band broke up in 1997, Giorgos spent many years singing classical music and translating novels by Thomas Pynchon, till finally he decided to go back to his old ways and write happy, optimistic yet deep music, with poetic and humorous lyrics profuse with self-irony. All this resulted in a 12" EP titled 'Numbers,' comprising six original songs alluding to that era and even further back, with echoes from The Beach Boys' harmonies, The Beatles' melodies, Peter Hammill's theatricality, XTC's eclecticism and Elvis Costello's inclusiveness. Materialized with the valuable assistance of Sergios Voudris, heart and soul of The Voyage Limpid Sound, during the process of recording and mixing, these songs are sometimes densely arranged with a multitude of instruments and complex choral parts, in a daring production incorporating the best elements from older times always nostalgically remembered, and combining them with the DIY spirit of the 1990s. Make Me Happy Records takes great joy in introducing this record, which is released in a limited edition of 200 copies on 45rpm orange vinyl.
