Ryan, Paul & Barry
Live On Air 1965-1970
The twin sons of popular singer Marion Ryan, Paul and Barry Sapherson were launched as wholesome looking young gentlemen to attendant showbusiness publicity agents. To some, they were just another teenage act looking for fame in London, but their debut single as Paul and Barry Ryan, 'Don't Bring Me Your Heartaches' reached the UK Top 20 in 1965, and over the ensuing months the siblings enjoyed respectable, if unspectacular, chart placings with 'Have Pity On The Boy' and 'I Love Her.' The duo's numerous visits to the Paris Theatre, Playhouse Theatre and other studio sanctuaries of the BBC at the height of their pop career brought some material to the table that remain exclusive to these sessions only. These recordings give insight into not only their capacity to combine a pop career with artistic credibility, but also the enduring appeal of their repertoire and the ups and downs of real people becoming 'pop stars' in the process of life. London Calling very proudly presents Paul and Barry Ryan, live at the BBC 1965-1970. Professionally remastered original broadcasts with background liners and rare archival photographs.
