Ravers
Going Underground, Bad Bad World
Wah-Wah unearths another lost gem from the past! This time it's the 1969 LP 'Going Underground: Bad Bad World' by German studio-exploitation band The Ravers, a.k.a. The Tonics. Producer on that occasion was Herbert Hildebrandt, an ex-member of The Rattles, described on some internet blogs as the German equivalent of Kim Fowley. The Ravers' 'Going Underground: Mad, Mad World' is an amazing German psychedelic and hard rock budget-LP that will delight fans of like-minded works by pre-Asterix and Lucifer's Friend projects s.a. Hell Preachers Inc., Bokaj Retsiem and Electric Food. In fact, some of the people who participated on these records can also be heard on 'Going Underground...'. As a result, 'Going Underground...', featuring mostly original material, is an unusual title in the Ravers' catalogue, which mainly consists of LP's that contain (often well performed) r&r and mid-late '60s beat and pop covers.
