Brought up in London, but nowadays based in Haifa, Israel, Ella Raphael isn influenced by anything from Ella Fitzgerald and Etta James to Te Beatles, from Love to Vashti Bunyan, from Serge Gainsbourg to Queen, and from exotic '50s guitars to Tropicalia! 'Mad Sometimes' is her debut-album, created with lap steel, mandolin, guiro, congas, synthesisers, a shruti box and stringed instruments played by Ella, Eyal Samson, Uzi Ramirez, Ron Ephrati, Guy Mintus and Amir Sadot.
