Phoenician Drive
Two Coins (10"/marbled)
Repress with coloured sleeve and black and white marbled vinyl. Balancing on a tightrope between Mediterranean traditions and psychedelic rock, Phoenician Drive is a Brussels-based six-piece featuring Diego Moscoso. This percussionist gathered musicians coming from various musical backgrounds (flamenco, balkan, psychedelic, rock'n'roll, jazz, post-punk/new wave) in order to combine drums and fuzzy guitars with oud and Eastern percussion. Following musical blendings of east and west from the '70s, like Erkin Koray or Orient Express, and under the influence of the German kraut-rock scene (Neu!, Can, Faust), Phoenician Drive searches the hypnotic trance based on distorted oriental grooves.
