Peltola, Markku
(black) Buster Keatonin Ratsutilalla
Ektro/Full Contact commemorates the 10th anniversary of the beloved musician and actor Markku Peltola's passing by reissuing his debut solo album 'Buster Keatonin Ratsutilalla' (2003). Markku Peltola was a prominent figure in the Finnish cultural scene until his untimely death in 2007. In addition to playing lead roles in various celebrated feature films, such as Aki Kaurismäki's 'The Man Without A Past', Peltola was a key member of the charismatic theatre and rock group Motelli Skronkle. In addition to his active involvement on stage, he was also a hands-on cultural activist and the primus motor behind Tampere's legendary theatre and concert venue Telakka. Meandering in the realm of dreamy, low-key folk, Peltola's magical debut album oscillates solemnly between queer humour and touching melancholy, which has been compared to the film scores of Ry Cooder and Ennio Morricone and the minimalism of Penguin Cafe Orchestra. Limited to 350 copies on black vinyl.
