Omega

Gammapolis

In the late 1970s, Hungarian band Omega entered their "Space Rock" era, defined by the albums "Time Robber" (1976), "Skyrover" (1978), and "Gammapolis" (1979). This trilogy showcased the band's conceptual focus, with "Gammapolis" standing out for its melancholic, bittersweet melodies, particularly in tracks like "Dawn in the City," "Gammapolis," and "Silver Rain." The Hungarian and English versions of "Gammapolis" featured slight differences in track order and song lengths, with longer instrumental sections in the Hungarian version. The album became Omega's best-selling LP in Hungary, moving nearly 750,000 copies. Notably, the German and Hungarian covers also differed, with the German version featuring silhouettes against a night sky, while the Hungarian artwork depicted a futuristic alien landscape. This is a limited release on coloured vinyl.
