Manthra Dei
Manthra Dei (black)
Limited to 400 copies on black vinyl, including insert. The explosive debut album from Manthra Dei, heavy-psych trippers from Italy, constantly mixing vintage and modern tunes with a particular addiction for long and structured compositions and space improvisations. Opening with soft psychedelic tunes, the album passes suddenly to a synth-driven ride and then to stoner classic '90s riffs and vocals in 'Legendary Lamb' (the only song with vocal parts). B-side starts with an anguishing churchorgan recorded in a 16th century Cathedral that will leave you with dark and gloomy feelings until the end of the record, when the acoustic guitar will bring some peace and breath again. Impossible to get bored on this album as you can pass from a Gilmour-like solo to a Sleep bone-mincer march in few minutes, but the influences inside are several: King Crimson, Motorpsycho, Hawkwind, Hendrix, Can fused together in an orgy of distortions, extreme synth solos, crushing drum and bass tempos.
