Lilywhite
Pale Face
On his debut album 'Pale Face', Dennes Frikken, who performs under the name Lilywhite, goes back to his past in which he had to deal with a traumatic event. In his spare time he wrote countless songs about love, life and loss. This music is the result of that personal journey through his life in Dutch rural area. 'Pale Face' has become an intense, probing and compelling record with 14 personal songs. The listener is taken on a journey that starts with the easy sound of 'Alone' and it ends with epic songs 'The End', 'Off' and 'Pale Face'. Lilywhite is musically inspired on one hand by the music of Radiohead, Interpol and Pearl Jam. Maybe in this case even more by the intimate poetic and humble songs of Nick Drake, Keaton Henson or Other Lives. Indie rock music with guitars, mellotron and drum grooves interspersed with beautiful piano and strings. Dennes is joined on his album by several well-known musicians like Bauke Bakker (Bertolf/Her Majesty) and Vincent Hilberdink (The Horse Company). Produced, mixed and mastered by Matthijs Herder (The Horse Company/Black Atlantic/Paradise Lost), recorded at the attic, Electric Lab Studio, studio from Her Majesty and Odeon Theatre in Zwolle.
