The La's 'Live 1986-1987' manages to capture the English indie/wave band's original ethos and attitude. Side 1 contains live recordings from 1986, when Mike Badger and Lee Mavers shared material and vocal duties. These recordings have a skiffle like quality that flew in the face of the highly produced trends dominating the mid-'80s. On Side 2 we hear a band that had evolved, at times almost towards garage rock.
