Kirk, Rahsaan Roland

Live In Paris 1970 (2lp)

This is the one and only Rahsaan Roland Kirk caught live in Paris in 1970 with one of his best lineups ever. A distinctive quintet featuring Ron Burton on piano, bassist Vernon Martin, drummer great Jerome Cooper, mostly known as member of the mythical Revolutionary Ensemble, and the colourful percussion work of Joe Habao Texidor. Rahsan displays a fine set list including original compositions like the anthemic 'Voluntary Slavery' and a wide selection of standards, from Cole Porter to Stevie Wonder, as inspirational material for infectious, groovy improvisations in front of a very receptive Parisian audience, all this at the very dawn of the seventies. SIDE 1: 1. Easy To Love 2. Love Madeline 3. My Cherie Amour 4. Petite Fleur SIDE 2: 1. The Inflated Tear 2. Boogie Man Song 3. Three For The Festival SIDE 3: 1. Sweet Fire 2. Make Me A Pallet On The Floor SIDE 4: 1. Charlie Parker Medley 2. Voluntary Slavery 3. You Did It, You Did It 4. Satin Doll
