King Tuff
Smalltown Stardust
Many artists inhabiting the world of their chosen genre will often fall into two camps: those for whom their output is a constant work in progress, refining details and staying pretty strictly within the confines of their genre, and those who eventually see the layers of paint slowly closing in on them, sparking the need to break down a wall and explore what lies beyond. On his album, King Tuff has chosen the latter and the light that has come cascading in has revealed a pastoral landscape to explore. Gone are the crunching garage songs of his earlier work in favour of songs that are seeped in a near-perfect psych-pop, the lyrics revealing a reverence for nature and desire for a simple life, one that truly satisfies the soul.
