Green Day is one of the most successful bands in the world and named best punk rock band of all time by Rolling Stone. Emerging in the early '90s, influenced by the late '70s British punk, the American trio took a more mainstream turn by incorporating catchy hooks and harmonies into their loud, energetic sound. They popularized punk rock in the US to the point of selling out stadiums, especially after the release of 'Dookie' in 1994 which sold 15 million copies woldwide.
