Fugs
Dancing In The Universe
First album by the cult band since 2010. The Fugs was formed in 1964 by Ed Sanders with Tuli Kupferberg and Kenn Weaver. Until they disbanded the group captured the time spirit and they were alongside Frank Zappa & The Mothers Of Invention the representatives of a quite new mix of political protest, Dadaistic free form performances, poetry - but first rock & roll. The Fugs produced 6 great albums including the masterpieces 'Tenderness Junction' (1968) and 'It Crawled Into My Hand, Honest' (1969), before they disbanded in 1969. Ed Sanders pursued a very successful career as a writer and poet. His book about the Manson Family was a huge bestseller. In 1984 Sanders brought The Fugs together again and has recorded several albums since then, including the brilliant 'No More Slavery' from 1986. Two tunes on the LP version were recorded by Scott Petito at Tuli Kupferberg's loft in NYC in 2005. The Fugs have added instruments and harmony singing to Tuli's originals. Limited to 500 copies.
