Drummer Harris Eisenstadt ventures into the string quartet realm with 'Whatever Will Happen That Will Also Be,' performed by the MIVOS Quartet. Although 10 minutes of the 35-minute composition feature improvisation, the transitions are so smooth they blend seamlessly with the written sections. Eisenstadt's love for complex layering and counterpoint is evident, with contrasting textures like high-pitched violin whistles and deep viola and cello tones. The piece sits firmly in contemporary classical music, avoiding jazz crossovers despite Eisenstadt's jazz background. This work raises the question of whether Eisenstadt, a drummer-composer, may ultimately be more known as a composer.
