Guillotine (canada)
After a dozen or so albums, this is probably their tribute to entropy. Their characteristic clockwork mechanisms wind down into uncharacteristic disorder. A good portion of the album finds them venturing into a hazy, oft-noisy primitive psych direction, equally serving up repetitive rock pulsations and noodly fusion. Creating a mellow caveman hippy jam of all sorts, followed by an example of twangy acoustic psych and throwing in krautrock beat, maniacal noise drone and some part, more spastical and chaotic than you would expect. As the 70s vibe is palpable the obscure music analogy is like Captain Beyond meets Neu! Stoner prog kraut. Evoking the image of a pack of drunken Trolls stumbling around a fire, casting spells and having an acoustic hootenanny. Oscilating between compelling mischief and divine inspiration.
