The quartet, with a history dating back to 1986, delivers four improvisations showcasing their deep rapport. Bradford's bluesy, concise cornet lines contrast with Gjerstad's abstract, legato sax and clarinet. Bassist Ingebrigt Håker Flaten provides a steady pulse, while drummer Frank Rosaly's intricate rhythms keep the music dynamic. Highlights include a quicksilver a cappella horn section on "Delaware" and the emotional "1965 Was Amazing," featuring vulnerable blues vocals and intimate interplay between instruments.
