'Le Magnifique', also known under 'The Magnificent One' is a cult film from 1973 starring Jean-Paul Belmondo. The film's soundtrack by Claude Bolling reminds of the Anglo-Saxon masters of the easy-jazz pop genre such as Henri Mancini. Bolling plays with the codes of film music without ever losing a certain communicative jubilation; he succeeds in recreating the world of escape imagined by François Merlin. It is Bolling's original French touch that gave today's DJs such as Dimitri From Paris and Bon Sinclar enough inspiration to sample from.
