Berberian, Cathy
Pop Art
Cathy Berberian, an American avant-garde mezzo-soprano based in Italy, turned toward this repertory, critically, but with love. And even though she maintained a certain dose of ironical distance, she never stooped to parody. In this recital, dating back to the second half of the '60s, she explored the most varied vocal territories, covering Weill, Berio and even The Beatles. This is an extraordinary release for all lovers of unique vocal deliveries. SIDE 1: 1. Song Of Sexual Slavery (Kurt Weill) 2. Le Grand Lustucru (Kurt Weill) 3. Surabaya Johnny (Kurt Weill) 4.
