Beatpack
Back, Behind And In Front
Twenty-seven years on from their debut EP on Screaming Apple Records, perennial R&B deviants THE BEATPACK return with another four-song offering that retains all of their original energy and sonic intensity, while also venturing boldly into perilous and previously uncharted waters. The top side sees the tooled-up Hollywood-Brats-meets-Bo-Diddley-in-a-dark-alley drive of 'Loopin' With Lucy' coupled with 'A Fog Is Lifting' - the sound of prime '66 Yardbirds riffs and monastic chanting exploding at the end of the world. Flip it over and you get the fuzz-and-jangle folk punker 'Met Myself Coming Back', which comes complete with psyched-out twin guitar solos, and the invention of primitive garage jazz on 'If I Look Outside'. Limited to 500 copies.
