Bang, Billy -'s Survival Ensemble-

Black Man's Blues

'Black Man's Blues' features a previously unreleased live session recorded in May 1977 in New York led by the late violinist Billy Bang, including his first date as a bandleader and a previously unreleased radio broadcast. Supported by a powerhouse lineup, including bassist William Parker and drummer Rashid Bakr, the Survival Ensemble delivers high-energy, politically charged performances. With fiery improvisations, collective experimentation, and raw intensity, this release is an essential tribute to Bang's early work.
