Albert Ayler pushed free jazz to extremes, creating some of the 20th century's most brilliant and polarizing music. 1964 was a pivotal year for him_after returning to New York, he recorded Spiritual Unity with Sunny Murray and Gary Peacock for ESP-Disk'. Later, they toured Europe with Don Cherry, culminating in The Hilversum Session, a live radio recording from November 9th, 1964. The quartet's extraordinary interplay on tracks like Spirits and Ghosts captures free jazz at its most untethered and powerful. Our Swimmer now presents the first official vinyl reissue in over 30 years.
