Attic
Summer Bummer
The Attic's second album captures an invigorating free jazz performance recorded live at a festival in Antwerp. Featuring Portuguese saxophonist Rodrigo Amado, bassist Gonçalo Almeida, and Dutch drummer Onno Govaert, this dynamic trio navigates three lengthy, improvised tracks with remarkable synergy. Amado's muscular tenor sax leads the way with extemporized motifs, creating spontaneous structure, while Almeida's bass and Govaert's drumming add urgency and depth. Highlights include moments of creative empathy, such as the interplay between saxophone and bowed bass, that propel the improvisations to powerful climaxes.
