'The Field' is the second standout album this year from Portuguese tenor saxophonist Rodrigo Amado, following 'Let The Free Be Men.' It features his Motion Trio - cellist Miguel Mira and drummer Gabriel Ferrandini - collaborating with legendary German pianist Alexander von Schlippenbach, a pioneer of European free-improvisation. Recorded live at the Vilnius Jazz Festival, the album's 56-minute title piece is a masterful showcase of free improvisation, blending the Motion Trio's modern sound with von Schlippenbach's deep jazz tradition. Full of passion, creativity, and collaborative spirit.
